Kali, a 66-year-old female from Nepal, approached the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund, an initiative of Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI) on 28th July 2015. She had recently suffered from an inferior wall heart attack and had severe blockages in two of the arteries supplying blood to the heart. Kali has 5 children. Her eldest son and the only earning member of the family works as a sweeper in a private office, earning Rs 70,000 per year.
As part of her treatment, a coronary artery bypass off pump surgery was done at the National Heart Institute on 21 September 2015. The grafts used were one arterial and one venous. This was followed by a pacemaker implant. She is now doing fine.
